Music Files Jumbled

I had 2 subfolder in Music. BBKing and KWSBand. I had added the mp3 according to the artist. Played them several times and they worked fine. Well today I turn my psp on and go to music because I want to here some Kenny Wayne Shepherd and it shows no files. I then, connect to usb to see what is going on and inside the subfolder is a bunch of files and folders names in wierd characters. Would not let me delete. Had to format my card. Does anyone know what would cause this, so I can prevent this from happening again? Thanks in Advance
