Help!! My wifi wont work!!!

Ok so this has been going on with me since I got my Netgear WGR614 v6 router. When I set up my wifi conection on my psp and test it. My psp just frezzes on "Obtaning IP Address". Then just gives me an "Timed out on obtaing ip address". I have contacted Sony and Netgear, but they were no help. Can someone tell me what is going on?

mine used to do that too. your just better off contacting your internet service provider (isp) and asking them on how you can obtain your ip so you just do it manually instead of automatically. thats the best i got, sorry

if you cannot obtain a static ip then you might not be able to use the wifi because when you set up the wifi it set itself to one ip but if it tries to connect to that one and it has already changed then it can't connect. Sorry

I can maybe help you. Where is the world do you live? No, I'm not going to come over to your house and rape you, it's just that certian wifi points made in different parts of the world accept different frequences. Example: I live in the US, my psp is US, but my router is UK (not quite legal, but this is an example...). I must limit the "channels" it is alowed to use, because the US psp won't connect on some of the higher fequencies. Not to mention that if the FCC found out....

EDIT: It's late in California, so I'm going to bed. If you still need help, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

start with process of ilimination...

do you have other wifi prodocts .. a pc? does it get it's dhcp from the router correctly?
on a cmd prompt if you type ipconfig /renew does it update from the netgear..
if yes proceed..

do you have wep enabled on the netgear ?
have you told the psp to use wep? and remember it gets entered in hex not pass phrase <--(plaintext)

this is prolly wots wrong as the psp cant understand what the netgear is sending..

you dont have to use dhcp ... if the netgears ip is say ...
192.168.0.1 and yer pc gets a dhcp of say 192.168.0.100
then you could set the psp to manual ...say 192.168.0.150
subnet 255.255.255.0 and default gateway of 192.168.0.1

to test the wifi im including a product called netstumbler its a wifi sniffer we use in war driving ... run this ap on yer pc.. it should return the netgear in its list.. then as a test goto gamesharing on the psp and run it..
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-17714.html

you should then see psp_GameShare... apear in the list , meaning psp wifi works...

lemie kno if u need more help...
