Cool News for those who have USB / Mp3 Car Stereo's

---- Original ----

Hey all;

This is my first post however i can not find any reference to a psp being used in this way so i hope its a good one!

I recently purchased a new car stereo that play mp3's and features a USB port on the front of it for USB Memory Sticks.

( http://www.tesco.com/electrical/product.aspx?R=8220866 to be exact)

Last night i was watching my PC detected my PSP when it struck me that when you plug a PSP into a PC it registers as a Mass Storage device with windows formatting, as do most USB Memory sticks.

Low and behold i decided to plug my PSP into my Car Stereo and Select USB Mode and now i can play all MP3's and WMA's stored on my PSP directly from the CD Unit!

I hope this is useful to someone as it made me smile No more burning CD or carrying around pointless USB Memory!!!

( PS Occassionally my stereo doesnt detect my PSP but unplugging it and plugging it back in a few times solves the problem! )

Cheers;

Fin, York

-------------------------------------------- Ammendement --------------------------------

I dont think i have explained this clearly enough.

It is not playing music from your PSP by an audio cable! It's reading the music files on your PSP via USB and having control of them from the CD Player, making it easy and safe to change / FF / skip tracks, and for people with 512MB + memory sticks, a decent music collection that you can carry about and plug in your car and go!

I've seen these things before. They work with almost any MP3/WMA Player

Yeah, does anyone really use psp as an mp3 player? Just seems like a waste of space. But i guess for those who don't know about homebrew...

Well I have an iPod, and I can use it in both my mom and dad's car. My mom has XM, and my dad has Sirius. Both have audio cables. I just disconnect them from the XM or Sirius, then put it into the headphones slot. I use it for my PSP, iPod, Laptop, DS, and other crap.

i use my psp to watch new eps of stargate and play music in my lorry. i just use a cassette adapter in the headphone socket, put the tape in the tape player and away it goes!!! makes the day go better if you can enjoy some of your favourite shows at rest stops and tunes on the go!!!!
