data on memory stick size

ryt hooe come if somethin is a certain size on computer like say 7mb and when its put on psp it goes to about 20mb? wats goin on there?!

Same happen to me it was 32mb when i bought it know it is 30mb

i dont think thats what he means. The computer read the remaining space as 7mb and the psp read it as 20mb. Is that what you mean?

A couple of things are coming into play here.
1st thing is file system, most computers now a days running windows XP have a NTFS file system, which allows a more effecient placement of the file on the drive, the memory stick is a FAT file system meaning files are a bit more bulkier.

2nd When companies advertise the size of Memory sticks(for example 32 MB) you do not actually get the whole size advertised for storage, as part of that needs to go to the directory structure, and layout of the files, so you loose some of the space thats advertised. No way to recop that space unfortunately.

They Advertise 32MB but what you actually get will be less, its like that for any storage device, a 60GB drive is not actually 60GB its somewhat smaller.

what i mean is that say i downloaded a file and it was 7mb on my computer....then i transferred it onto my psp and then the file was 20mb not 7mb anymore it over doubled on psp
