Game Save Problems

How can i use my UK Game Saves on a US version of the game?? I've tried copying the file across and it doesn't recognise it and i've also tried renaming the folder with the games ID number for the different region EG ULUS003432 and ELUS 005432 and that didn't work - it displayed corrupt data. Please help my mate wants to have me a fair race on burnout legends but he has the region 1 version where i have region 2. i have had the game since its release but he has just got his.
