It took me about 20 minutes from start to finish to write most of it, so there might be errors or typos - If so, please leave a comment saying so! Stage 1 - Getting the right programs
Download: and put them all in a nice folder on your desktop. Stage 2 - Putting them on your PSP- Open the last file you downloaded, the RAR file. Inside there is a folder called MS_ROOT - Open this, and copy and paste the PSP folder to the location on your memory stick where the PSP folder already is. If done correctly, a message will come up saying 'There is already a folder here called PSP' or something. Just click Yes To All - Nothing will be erased.
- Once that's done, goto the folder with all your downloaded files from this tut, and rename the EBOOT.PBP to 271.PBP, and extract the zip folder, and rename that extracted EBOOT.PBP to 150.PBP.
- Copy and paste 150.PBP and 271.PBP to PSP/GAME/seupdmaker on your memory stick.
Stage 3 - Making the right files on your PSP- This stage has only one step. Go back to your PSP, and start the homebrew called '2.71 SE Update maker'. Wait. If done correctly, a file called DATA.DXAR should be created. the size of this file should be 17,074 kb, or (according to the Size part on properties) 17,483,018 bytes. Cut and paste this file to PSP/GAME/271seflasher on your Memory Stick.
Stage 4 - Installation- This is the big one. Go to your PSP and start the homebrew '2.71 SE-A Fimware Install'. But just let me say this first: If you did all the stages correctly, this will work and get you to 2.71 SE-A. However, if this does not work for any reason, don't hold me responsible. Please.
- Anyway, start it up if you agree to that, and press O to start the flashing. It is recommended to plug in your power cord, just to be safe, and you must have over 75% battery life to start it at all.
- Once that is done, you'll be presented with the normal 'Flash1 is corrupt, press O to restore default settings' message, so do that. Wait until the PSP starts again. and set up your PSP like the day you bought it.
- Once you finish that, you will have 2.71 SE-A! Feel happy! But I'd just like to say this: Put all your KXPloited homebrew in PSP/GAME150 and un-KXPLOITED homebrew into PSP/GAME.
Recovery Mode
If your PSP is semi-bricked, or you want to change some 2.71 SE-A settings, Recovery Mode is the only way to go. To get to it, hold R on startup of your PSP v2.71 SE-A. Here's a feature list - - Toggle USB - Used to toggle USB if you can't get to the XMB to do this.
- Configuration - Used to hide corrupt icons and skip SCE logo and UMD starting at startup.
- Run program at... - used to start an app or update if you can't get to the XMB to do this.
- Advanced Mode - Used to flash certain files to your PSP. NOT reccomended to be used by most users (I haven't found out the uses for them, but I suppose they're for updates to 2.71 SE)
- Exit - Exits to 2.71 SE-A
Please post comments!

Cut and Paste
Shouldn't it be:
copy and Paste? |

And Time For A Game!, it's Cut And Paste for a reason - the file is no longer needed in seupdmaker, but is now needed in 271seflasher. |

Age: 19 | | | Vans: If you've got a RECOVERY folder in the GAME folder on your memstick it's what causing a corrupt icon. at least that's what caused one on mine. but that's just one. anyways. the "hide corrupt icon"-option do not work on everything, just most of it.
you could try the rename thing if it's fw1.5 homebrew that is doing this. forgot how it's done but I'm sure someone else know how to do it. If they understand what I'm talkin about. |

Can I use Dark_Alex's Generic Downgrader to get back to 1.5?
