Problem with UMD / disc reader...?

One night I accidentally left my PSP in sleep-mode for the entire next day, and when I tried to turn it on, the .cso I was playing came on. I was like, "oops, shit...," then it froze, or rebooted by itself -- I forget.

When it came back on in 1.50 mode the bgcolor was brown instead of orange like always, and it would freeze before coming all the way on until I open the UMD tray -- then it finishes and goes to menu, but when I close the tray again sometimes (like 3 outta 5 times) it won't show under the game menu. Sometimes when I'm doing something like trying to boot devhook, or something that requires loading, it'll freeze up if the UMD is in -- like it's trying to read it or something.

I've listened, and the UMD disc "spinner" sometimes still spins even though I open the damn tray.

Anyone know if there's something I can do to fix this?

Theres a little switch that makes the psp know the disk tray is closed, find it and make sure its not stuck.

Thats odd, some of it makes sence, the freezing part happens, and the color change was for the monthly change, but are you sure you just dont have a 2.0+ UMD in and it stops for a second before giving an error.

Even then it makes no sence why it would freeze when you load a Eboot, but seeing as that does make the drive spin up it could happen.

So do wat RobKellas said and try making sure the little switch isnt stuck. Hope it helps man

Thanks for trying to help me, guys...

Where is this little switch? I'm lookin', and I see a couple things, but I'm not certain wtf they are, and how to check if it's stuck or not.

Also, yeah, it is a 2.0+ UMD, and does freeze before the error. But it doesn't unfreeze by itself until I open the tray, and everything will pop up (minus the error of course). I can't even hear the disk spinner spin during this until, again, I close the tray -- but then it won't even show up under the Game menu.

And why would me leaving it in sleep mode for a whole day be significant? It was in the charger, but it was in sleep-mode during a game (.cso). Would this be harmful, or just a coincidence?

Mine is doing the exact same thing but my problem started when i accedently ran the program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY.EBOOT.PBP under my M33 recovery menu. Now at the psp's main screen with no umd in the umd eye moves and the umd spinner spins when i hold down a directional button. its not affecting anything too much its just annoying but i would like it to stop. i have also checked that the switch is not stuck.

Try cold booting your PSP. Hold down your power switch for 10 seconds then turn it back on.
