PJ1115 has written a quick tutorial on installing the new 'Grand Theft Auto : Vice City Stories' on Dark_Alex's SE-B" custom firmware.

At the time of writing, there's no automatic installer, so manual installation is necessary. Here we go!:

Using GTA:VCS Cheat device on Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE-B" custom firmware - manual installation tutorial (By PJ1115).

First of all, any damage to your PSP caused by this tutorial is YOUR OWN FAULT, and any inaccuracies in this guide will be fixed ASAP, but I won't be held responsible for the unlikely event of a damaged system.
Also, if someone could make an EBOOT installer for this, that'd be great!

You will need:

-Grand Theft Auto : Vice City Stories cheat device v2.0a.

-PSPFiler v1.50

-271SE-B" Custom firmware. (SE-B' appears to work also).

-A copy of the "pspbtcnf_game.txt" file that's located in the "KN" folder in "Flash0:". You can obtain this with PSPFiler or any other file manager with Read access to the flash.

-A simple text editor.

Right, so here we go:

1) Open up the file we copied from "Flash0\KD".
Under the line reading $/kd/fatmsmod.prx", place a line reading "$/kd/VCCHEAT.PRX".

(Note that if you have CWCheat installed, you can place the line underneath "CWCHEAT.PRX").

Place the modified file in a "REFLASH" directory in the root of your memory stick.


2) Extract the file "vcscheatdevice.prx" from the cheat device archive and place it in "ms0:/REFLASH" along with the modified text file. Rename it to "VCCHEAT.PRX".


3. Install PSPfiler, and launch it from the XMB.

In the program, wait until it's finished indexing the memory stick, and then navigate to the "REFLASH" folder on the initial screen, and then over the "VCCHEAT.PRX" file.

Press [Select] and then [O] to switch to the English language. Then, press [X] to exit the pop-up.

Press [X] on the "VCCHEAT.PRX" file, and then [O] to copy the file to the RAM.

Press [Start] once, to switch to "Flash0", and then navigate to the "KN" folder and hover over any file inside (NOT A SUB-DIRECTORY). Now, press {[L], [<] (Left), and [R]} to switch to "Hacker" mode. Press [X] on ANY file in the "KN" directory (NOT A SUB-DIRECTORY), and press [^]. (Triangle). This will paste the file from the RAM into the "KD" directory.

4. Hard Reboot the PSP, and hold [R] to boot into recovery mode. Go to "Advanced", and then MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "Flash pspbtcnf_game.txt(2.71)". Do not select the one that says (1.50) in it.

Now, when you launch GTA:VCS from the "Game>Memory Stick" menu in the XMB, cheat device should load with it! (If it doesn't, you've done something incorrectly or I made an error with the guide).
