Two Quick Questions

Hi,

I'm new to the site and have been reading up on all the great things that are being developed in the homebrew scene.

I plan on going to 3.03 OE-A firmware as soon as I get some noob-ish questions out of the way. I'm sure these have been asked before. If so I apologize.

1. Say I've loaded the 3.03 OE-A firmware on the system and at some point I decide I want my OEM PSP back. Is there a way to roll back the OE firmware to the Sony firmware?

2. Say I'm using the 3.03 OE-A firmware and I want to play multiplayer online. Will Sony detect the modified firmware and ban me? (IE DNAS)

So yeah, that's it. If you don't feel like answering a link to the answer(s) will also suffice. Thank you for your time.

1. Yes, using Recovery Mode, you can easily revert back to Official Sony firmware. We'll give you the full scoop on that if you decide to. (I doubt why you would)

2. No, this firmware is completely fine, Wi-Fi gaming will work just fine. The only modifications to this firmware are to allow homebrew applications to be run.

First off, welcome to PSP3D!

1) Yes, you can downgrade back to whatever stock firmware you wish.

2) No, there is no way they will be able to find out.

Hope this helps.

EDIT
: SpongeFreak52 beat me to it!

Okay, I found this pre-made RAR file with all of the Recovery stuff you'd need. Just extract the RECOVERY folder inside of the GAME folder.

Download

Hope this helps!

Just wanted to post my success story in the same n00b thread I started.

Plus give a shot out to Cody L.

Just finished upgrading to 3.03 OE-A'. It was insanely simple! Anyone who reads this and is considering doing this you won't be sorry. Just read directions and follow them verbatim.

Now that everything is going good can I format my Pro Duo card? I need the space for all the homebrew goodness that awaits

Thanks again for all the help!

Congrats on the successful installation!

Yes, now that everything is flashed to your PSP, the files are no longer necessary. Format away!
