Do I need to downgrade first or can I bang 3.90m33 straight on?

Once im up and running id like to change the menu layout and themes, do you know of a good theme pack

Cheers in advance mate, there is just too much conflicting info out there!!

Cheers

Can't help you since you mentioned ISO. There is no ISO talk allowed here on PSP3D. Read the rules. Get rid of the ISO part if you want then we'll talk

OK, that's better.

To get onto 3.90 M33, you'll need to use some software called Despertar Cementario (aka Universal Unbricker), which will get your PSP onto 3.71 M33 or 3.80 M33, and from either of those you can upgrade to 3.90 M33.

The thing is, Despertar Cementario needs some special hardware to run. This isn't a bug - it's how the software works. This special hardware is a Pandora battery and a Magic Memory Stick. The Pandora Battery can be obtained in two ways -
  1. Using a PSP with custom firmware already on it to convert an existing battery to a Pandora.
  2. Buying a Datel TOOL battery from the internet. These are bright red and hard to miss.

And the Magic Memory Stick can also be gotten by two means. Before you do either, however, back up all important data, as everything on your MS will be overwritten.
  • Using a PSP with custom firmware to convert an existing MS.
  • Using the TOTALNewbi installer to convert an existing MS.

But the Magic MS, for now, is not important, as it's easy to convert your existing MS to a Magic MS. Ignore it for now, and concentrate on getting hold of a Pandora or Datel TOOL battery.

Put the MS in first, then the battery. It should give you either an option to use Despertar Cementario (Universal Unbicker), if so go on it, or just to upgrade to 3.71 M33. Either way, select the option to install 3.71 M33, then you're clear to upgrade to 3.90 M33!

booted in service mode with mms.
pressed square to dump nand.
booted in service mode.
pressed x to install 3.71 m33.
pressed x to turn off.
booted with ac.
