Just got TA-082 PSP with 1.5. Safe to upgrade to M33?

Hi. I just got a PSP phat with TA-082 that came with the 1.5 firmware. Can I upgrade it to the latest 3.90-m33-2 firmware? OR should I keep it at 1.5? Any performance advantages between either firmware? (I'm actually a noob to all this until yesterday when I started reading up on it. But this is based on my assumption that since I'm running 1.5, I don't have to worry about downgrading or anything like that and I can just install custom m33 firmware on top of it, right?)

And are there any issues with running homebrew apps on a PSP with TA-082 motherboard (other than not being able to downgrade past a certain firmware, which I guess doesn't apply to me since I already have 1.5)?

Thanks!

yeah, you can got to 3.90 m33, but not strait there. what i'd do is:
  • go to 3.40 SE-A
  • go to 3.51 m33
  • update to 3.51m33-3
  • go to 3.80 m33
  • update to 3.90 m33-4 via network update

it'd also be a good idea to add the 1.50 addon once you get to 3.90 m33

Thanks! Could I also do this to get there?:

Upgrade first to 3.52M33, and then install Update #4.
Then, Install 3.90M33, then Update #2, and then the 1.5 kernel patch V2.

yes, that's fine. There's a kexploit patcher in the official 3.52m33 release that allows you to install it directly from 1.5

That's the quickest way of doing it, and the way I'd do it, though it does require you to use the NOKXPLOIT patcher as mentioned above.
