I Have Been To http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=7668 where there is a download link for: custom firmware 4.01 M33. I downloaded the files, and followed the instructions. It came up in my game folder but when I clicked on it it launched the update but then said:
The Game Could Not Be Started.
(80020148)

I think this is because my psp doesn't support home-brews or do I need a downgrader or something.
Please help I really need custom firmware as soon as possible.
Thanks!

If you are on official firmwares, you are going to need another PSP that can use homebrew. You will need this for the Pandora Battery hack.

like dq9 said you get that error because you are probably on an official firmware. You need a pandora's battery to install custom firmware. it's the only way.

Where do you live? I know someone who can do it for you for a small fee. Trust me they're legit. right dq9?

Unhappy I Would like a pandora battery pack

I Would like a Pandora battery pack but they are a bit difficult to make so is their someone in Essex or on the net who sells them. Also I was sure there was another way because I friend of mine has custom firmware and has done for a while but they don't have a Pandora battery pack and I have never got around to asking them. also I here it makes your warranty invalid which wouldn't be much good

thanks for replying though

Ok if you want to buy one check ebay but if your friend has a custom firmware he can make you one to use. Don't worry about the warranty because the Pandora can also fix the PSP if something happens to it's software.

No problem. That's why we're here

Exclamation How can my friend make one?

But How can he? I saw on the internet somewhere how to make one without a friend who has custom firmware but that involves opening the battery up and fiddling with it which sounds a bit dogy and difficult
I'm a little confused and also are you sure there isn't another way. plus all i really want to be able to do is run home-brew apps. i don't even know all the features and differences between official and custom firmware so I would like to know what they are

Sorry it's a lot to answer but I'm going to give you a donation (though it will be quite small because I have very few my self as i have just Joined)
you've been very helpful Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

A donation isn't necessary.
- Opening up the battery is very difficult. I wouldn't do it unless you know ABSOLUTELY what you're doing.
- As for another way, I know a friend who can install the firmware for you. Just need to send it out to him and pay a little fee.
- Aside from running homebrew, custom firmware retains the featers from the official firmware and also support ISO loading straight from the XMB (Do not ask how to run or where to get them though), plugin support, and more.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Question OK

I Would not mind doing that so much but where is this person?
also did you not say that my friend could help get it installed? How could he do that because I see him quite regularly and that would be more practical for me.
