I don't see how your rubber thing (I think we need a better name for it) would be causing the problem. This is a really frustrating prosses the first time you do it, so just bare with me and don't do anything drastic like sell your PSP.

Try unscrewing the analog part from the PSP and then put it back on and nudge then do the steps I said above.

Gosh! I'm telling you. It's not broken. Mine has done that soo many times. Did you screw the analog stick into the faceplate? If you did, unscrew it and put it in like that, put don't screw it on yet. Turn your psp on, with it unscrewed and go to the web browser. Just try nudging the analog thing around and try to get the mouse to stop moving. You need to get the connetors on the analog stick alined with the connecters on the rubber thing. If you can at least get your analog stick to automaticly move in a different direction then you DEFENTALLY don't have a broken analog stick.

PSP ANALOG STICK CONTACT PAD RUBBER 1000 Fat - eBay (item 200315507736 end time Mar-31-09 07:45:42 PDT)

Man, I wish I had know about this back when I broke my PSP.
