Any downsides to custom firmware?

I know what I must do to get custom firmware - but will doing so disable any normal features? Ad-Hoc Party is the one I'm worried about.

Nope. However, it seems that Sony is developing a new security where new games won't work on CFW. If this prevents you from playing a game you want, you can always go back.

It won't disable any features. The only time that ever happened was way back when we were writing custom themes straight to flash0 and sometimes you had to delete/disable certain features. Custom firmware is great because you get a later Sony version of firmware and the ability to play homebrew.

iamstrange14 is right if there is a problem you can always go bnack to official firmware

Are you sure? I heard somewhere that attempting to revert to official Sony firmware carried a high risk of bricking my PSP. Admittedly, it is possible to reboot it from that but it's difficult. Of course, I'm only saying what comes to me through the grapevine.

Thats not true. The only reason it will brick is if you take the battery or memory card out while upgrading.
