chriscooke109's DevHook Setup Guide

Step by step guide on how to setup DevHook 0.44 (firmware 2.50)

Before you start make sure you have a PSP with firmware 1.50

1. Download DevHook 0.44 from here

2. Go into the MS-Root folder in the DevHook download and copy the dh and psp folder onto the
root of your mem-stick

3. Download pbp unpacker from here

4. Download 2.50 update from here

5. Open the update with pbp unpacker and extract all the files to wherever you want (the file needed is the data.psar)

6. Get the data.psar from the extracted update and put that onto the root of your mem-stick

7. On the psp choose devhook installer and start that, then when you are in the eboot start the installer, at the end if you want to copy your flash1 read what is says on the screen, which should be something like "press O to copy flash1 registry files"

8. When everything is done open DevHook and use these settings:
UMD Select: (choose your iso, cso or --UMD DISC--)
UMD Mount: ISO ANYUMD
UMD Version: 2.xx > 2.00
Firmware: 2.60
CPU Clock: 222MHz / 111MHz (that is what I always use no problems)
Boot Select: Reboot XMB
Other: preload address: 0x88E00000 (tell me if this address doesn't work with 2.50)
*****REMOTE CTRL: Kprintf(115kbps) (not compulsary, unless you want to use the music remote)

When using ISO/cso make sure there is a UMD game in the drive, never use a UMD movie.

When selecting a UMD Disc with the UMD Select option the other settings will be changed automatically so the UMD will run, the settings can be changed back later by pressing O when DevHook is auto-starting.

When in the 2.50 xmb if you are on the umd icon if you hold down the Home button and press the L or R trigger you can go through all the ISO/cso's on your mem-stick, and in 0.44 it will tell you which game you have changed to at the bottom this saves you waiting (11 seconds) while the ISO loads up on the xmb.

9. Use the PSP ISO Compressor to compress the ISO into cso format for use with DevHook: Get it here
This is a very easy to use compression utitlity and you should be able to work out how to use the compress and decompress functions thanks to the very user friendly GUI. If you haven't worked it out in the compression settings set the "Select compressed ISO format" to "ISO -> CSO", and I usually use level 9 compression.

Step by step guide on how to setup DevHook 0.44(firmware 2.60)

Before you start make sure you have a PSP with firmware 1.50

1. Download DevHook 0.44 from here

2. Go into the MS-Root folder in the DevHook download and copy the dh and psp folder onto the
root of your mem-stick

7. On the psp choose devhook installer and start that, then when you are in the eboot start the installer, at the end if you want to copy your flash1 read what is says on the screen, which should be something like "press O to copy flash1 registry files"

8. Download the 2.71 reboot.bin from here (I don't think I am breaking the forum rules because the DevHook provided on the homepage includes either the 1.50 reboot.bin or the 2.50 reboot.bin)

9. Now copy the 2.71 reboot.bin you just downloaded into ms0:\dh\kd and replace the one that is currently in there

10. Download the 2.60 reboot.bin from here (I don't think I am breaking the forum rules because the DevHook provided on the homepage includes either the 1.50 reboot.bin or the 2.50 reboot.bin)

11. Now copy the 2.60 reboot.bin you just downloaded into ms0:\dh\260 and replace the one that is currently in there

12. Now use the following settings to start up 2.60:
UMD Select: (choose your iso, cso or --UMD DISC--)
UMD Mount: ISO ANYUMD
UMD Version: 2.xx > 2.00
Firmware: 2.60
CPU Clock: 222MHz / 111MHz (that is what I always use no problems)

*****REMOTE CTRL: Kprintf(115kbps) (not compulsary, unless you want to use the music remote)

When in the 2.60 xmb if you are on the umd icon if you hold down the Home button and press the L or R trigger you can go through all the ISO/cso's on your mem-stick, and in 0.44 it will tell you which game you have changed to at the bottom this saves you waiting (11 seconds) while the ISO loads up on the xmb.

Step by step guide on how to setup DevHook 0.44(firmware 2.71)

1. Download DevHook 0.44 from here

2. Go into the MS-Root folder in the DevHook download and copy the dh and psp folder onto the

UMD Select: (choose your iso, cso or --UMD DISC--)
UMD Mount: ISO ANYUMD
UMD Version: 2.xx > 2.00
Firmware: 2.60
CPU Clock: 222MHz / 111MHz (that is what I always use no problems)
Boot Select: Reboot XMB
Other: preload address: 0x88E00000
*****REMOTE CTRL: Kprintf(115kbps) (not compulsary, unless you want to use the music remote)

When using ISO/cso make sure there is a UMD game in the drive, never use a UMD movie.

When selecting a UMD Disc with the UMD Select option the other settings will be changed automatically so the UMD will run, the settings can be changed back later by pressing O when DevHook is auto-starting.

When in the 2.71 xmb if you are on the umd icon if you hold down the Home button and press the L or R trigger you can go through all the ISO/cso's on your mem-stick, and in 0.44 it will tell you which game you have changed to at the bottom this saves you waiting (11 seconds) while the ISO loads up on the xmb.

Where to put your iso/cso

Some people don't know where there iso/cso/dax (dax isn't compatible with DevHook by the way) goes, it goes in a folder called ISO in the root of you mem-stick (this applies to all loaders).

Your psp isn't now a 2.50 or 2.60 or a 2.71

Some people seem to think their psp is now 2.50 or 2.60 or a 2.71 it is not just hold down the power button until the psp turns off completely, boot the psp back up and it will be back to 1.50. It never actually installs anything to the psp it just runs the dump from the mem-stick, if it made the psp update to 2.50 or 2.60 or 2.71 nobody would use it.

How to install new verions if you already have a previous version set up

Whenever you download a new version of DevHook you can insatall it without having to re-install the dump. When you have downloaded the latest version of devhook go into the MS_ROOT\PSP\GAME and remove the DevHook installer eboots. Now go back into the MS_ROOT folder so you are just presented with the folders dh and PSP, now just copy these two folders into the root of your mem-stick and then if a message comes up saying something like "If the files in the folder have the same name do you want to replace them?" click "yes to all".

They are compulsory if you use a 2.50 dump and want to play the newest ISO's/ UMD's BTW, and the firmware dump was only included in the first release of DevHook and that was a mistake.

I have added the CISO compression utility link to my first post, cso is an ISO compression format specially made for DevHook.
