Points: 38.43 Donate | | PSP 2.5/6 Downgrader Guide - 100% Clear English PSP Firmware 2.5/2.6 Downgrader YOU PERFORM THIS DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU UNDERSTAND
THAT IT MIGHT BREAK ("brick") YOUR PSP.
I N S T R U C T I O N S - R E A D C A R E F U L L Y
YOU PERFORM THIS DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU UNDERSTAND
THAT IT MIGHT BREAK ("brick") YOUR PSP. This downgrade will allow you to update your PSP's firmware from 2.5 or 2.6
back to 1.5. Why do you want to do this? Simple - firmware 1.5 allows you
to run homebrew directly from the memory stick. YOU PERFORM THIS DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU UNDERSTAND
THAT IT MIGHT BREAK ("brick") YOUR PSP. Things you'll need: 1. Downgrade File Package: http://www.sendmefile.com/00424397 2. The current firmware version of your PSP
3. A copy of GTA:Liberty City (see below)
4. Your PSP, a NON TA-082 version
5. Your PSP's power cable
6. This pack
7. About 15-30 mins, depending on how handy you are with this kinda stuff.
Item 1 (firmware version) can be found by using your PSP's menus and
checking the PSP system information. You must have firmware 2.5 or 2.6.
Item 2 is needed to begin the downgrade process. We use an option in
GTA:LCS to start the downgrader. You only need GTA:LCS once for a few
minutes, so if you don't have a copy you can rent one from your local
video store.
Item 3 is essential. A JPG is included in this archive. Make sure your
PSP is NOT a TA-082. If it is this downgrade WILL NOT WORK - running it
WILL break your PSP.
Item 4 is essential - if your PSP runs out of battery during the downgrade
you'll probably break it forever. Keep it plugged into the mains.
Item 5 is, well, doh. This pack should contain the following things:
- This readme
- A JPG showing a TA-082 version PSP
- A folder called DOWNDATER EBOOT, inside which is EBOOT.PSP
- A folder called DOWNDATER, inside which is:
- inputfl.bin and outputfl.bin
- A folder called DUMP (211 files, 10 folders inside)
- A folder called PRX (7 files inside)
- An executable called eloader097.exe
- A folder called 2.6 EBOOT UPDATE, inside which is EBOOT.PSP
Please make sure you have all of the following before continuing. THE DOWNGRADE PROCESS --------------------- YOU PERFORM THIS DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU UNDERSTAND
THAT IT MIGHT BREAK ("brick") YOUR PSP. Part 1 - Set up the ELoader 1. If you do not already have the ELoader installed, we must install
this first (if you currently use homebrew you already have it).
Simply connect your PSP to your PC then run the eloader097.exe
setup. This will walk you through the setup, it's very simple.
2. Once the ELoader has been installed, confirm it works. Reset your
PSP and boot your GTA:LCS game. Go through the menus and go to
the "Load Game" option. You should see a "Superbock Eloader"
entry in your saved games list. Select it and wait. After a
minute or so the ELoader will appear. Do not continue until
you can see this Eloader (it's obvious what it is).
3. We only need to check that the ELoader is working, so that's it.
Reset your PSP and connect it to your PC again. If your PSP
has firmware 2.6, skip down to "Begin the downgrade". If your
PSP has firmware 2.5, continue reading. If your PSP has any
other firmware, STOP RIGHT NOW - THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT UPDATE
FOR YOU. Part 2 - Update your firmware 4. Strangely it's better to go forwards before going backwards.
We need to update the firmware from 2.5 to 2.6. To do this
copy the "2.6 EBOOT Update" folder into your PSP's memory
stick, in the PSP/GAME/ folder. Eg: if your PSP has been
assigned G: by Windows, copy "2.6 EBOOT Update" to
"G:\PSP\GAME\2.6 EBOOT Update".
5. Disconnect your PSP.
6. Load GTA:LCS and enter the ELoader exactly as in step 2.
7. Select "2.6 EBoot Update" from the list. Let the update run,
this will upgrade your firmware to 2.6.
8. When it's complete, reset your PSP and check your firmware
has upgraded by using the PSP system menus. Part 3 - Begin The Downgrade YOU PERFORM THIS DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU UNDERSTAND
THAT IT MIGHT BREAK ("brick") YOUR PSP.
9. Copy the "DOWNDATER EBOOT" folder to the memory stick in
the PSP/GAME folder. Eg: if your PSP has been assigned G:
by Windows, copy "DOWNDATER EBOOT" to
"G:\PSP\GAME\DOWNDATER EBOOT".
10.Copy the "DOWNDATER" folder to the root of the memory
stick. Eg: if your PSP has been assigned G: by Windows,
copy "DOWNDATER" to "G:\DOWNDATER" *****MAKE SURE YOUR PSP IS CONNECTED TO THE MAINS******
*****LOSS OF POWER NOW WILL BREAK YOUR PSP!!!!!!!****** 11.Load GTA:LCS and enter the ELoader exactly as in step 2.
12.Choose the Downdater eboot in the ELoader. When you select it
the update will begin IMMEDIATELY. NOTHING will be shown on
the screen. The memorystick light will flash for a bit. Expect to wait up to 5 minutes for this to complete! DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PSP DURING THIS TIME! THE SCREEN WILL BE BLACK - THIS IS NORMAL. 13.Wait until the memorystick light stops flashing, then wait
a few more minutes. DO NOT TURN YOUR PSP OFF MANUALLY WHILE THE UPDATE IS IN
PROGRESS. WAIT A MINIMUM OF 10 (TEN) MINUTES BEFORE MANUALLY
TURNING IT OFF. Turning it off in the middle of the ROM update
will corrupt your PSP's firmware and break it. Turning it off
is a LAST RESORT in case the downgrade doesn't auto-reboot your
PSP. 14.If your PSP does not automatically reboot itself, turn it off
completely, remove the GTA:LCS UMD then turn it back on again. -OR-
14.If your PSP does reboot itself, expect to see a message that says
the UMD cannot be read. Turn the PSP off completely, remove the
UMD, turn the PSP back on (the UMD is fine, the PSP just gets
confused).
15.The process is complete! If everything worked correctly you will
now have a PSP with 1.5 firmware! Update: You can avoid all this work by downloading this: http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=605 Its a program called "Auto Downgrader.exe" It will apply all of the Downgrade files (including GTA Loader) in the right place on your PSP. I myself would rather place the files in the places on the PSP myself to secure that it wont go wrong. Note: Thanks for reading, And best of luck downgrading your PSP to play all you old retro games Extra Note: Just because you have a PSP 1.50 does not mean you have the right to play illegal "ISO" files off the memory stick.
You may want to fool yourself into thinking that its just a "back up"
But this is also illegal, When you purchase a UMD game, You purchase 1 licence to the game.
Unless you want fewer/no PSP games released, Just do the decent thing and buy the actual UMD game. If you dont the PSP is bound to end up as the nokia N-Gage did... No games were made when people begun to steal them.
By buying the games you are securing the future of the PSP and the community forums like PSP3D.

You double click the file and it will ask you to locate the PSP drive.
e.g. E, C etc... You choose which one and it will install ALL the files required, Including the GTA loader I believe. This is a good file for a person who does not have the time/heart to do it themselves. Like whats the odds an APP can do it wrong?
Hope this helps |
