Lightbulb ps1 isos for everyone

is it possible with the hacked psps to change its mac address. why? because i think the ps1 emulated games (isos) will assign it to your unique mac address ( it can only be used on your psp one elses) They were going to implement this on the ps3 as they wanted to get rid of pre owned games and pirate games also with ps3 when you buy the game you dont actually own it you have only bought the rights to use the software.

well i was thinking there should be a way to use the isos on any psp if every one changed there mac address to that of the iso hosted on the web this cold work or maybe there should be a universal mac address for all psp homebrew users.

i was wondering if anyone was planning to do this or is interested in this project of making software to change the mac address or is this olready possible.

True, Sony are likely to implement a distribution-prevention system, but a MAC address is not likely to be used. Namely because a MAC address is typicly only used for identification over wireless networks, so the address is probably stored somewhere like the Wi-Fi hardware, and definately not in the firmware. We can change the MAC address of a USB Wi-Fi peripheral on a PC because windows needs access to it, and we can use that as our way in. We probably can't change the PSP's because there is no current way to access the Wi-Fi hardware, apart from the MAC address display in the system settings.

A more likely system is serial numbers or hardware IDs, and we DEFINATELY can't change them.

All this said, Sony's approach may be completely different, if they even try at all.

Um...do you really think someone would give your their MAC address and give you the rights to find out where they live, name, which could lead to Social security number stealing leading to identity theft ? No I wont.

well if someone ever hacks the ps1 emulator and makes another one for 1.5 they can probably make the emulator skip the *security* check somehow (hopefully they can make the *same* ps1 emulator for 1.5 somehow)
