Can't upgrade to 2.71 from 2.70

Any ideas why? I created a folder called "UPDATE" in the "PSP" folder and out the eboot.pbp into it, but when I go to the actual psp I click the update icon and it says

"The system software of your psp system is version 2.70. There is no need to update."

Am I doing something wrong or does god just hate me?

its possible 2 use a PBP dumper to edit what firmware update the psp thinks it is.
1.Go to www.psp-hacks.com and search for PBP unpacker and download and install.

2.Use it to dump the contents of the eboot.

3.Use it to edit the file PARAM.SFO

4.Next to UPDATE VER. there should be a number. if it is not 2.71 then change it to 2.71

5.Use pbp unpacker to compile the edited sfo and the other original components (the sfo MUST be named PARAM.SFO, caps included)

Im not sure if this will work or not but try it

Yeah, anyone can do that, but it will not work, doing that will only make the psp think it is a different version, but once it is launched it will fail cuz of Security checks
