For brute force hacking of WEP encryption, you need two computers, or in our case, two PSP's. One to brute force the code, and another for carrying out other operations.

Another method is to monitor the packets that the router and remote computer share, gradually unearthing the WEP key, this can take 10+ hours of non-stop monitoring, and I doubt that most wireless devices stay active for periods like that. Not to mention the high-speed CPU that you would need.

You might even do a mixture of the methods. Lastly, it is extremely advisable to change the MAC address on the wireless device you're using to that of a device that connects to the router you're attacking. This is very important, as it covers up the fact that you're an imposter. On a PSP, this might be difficult. You can change the MAC of almost any wireless hardware, but it requires full write control over the device, which I doubt can happen through the PSP's firmware, or even hacking the device itself.

All in all, it might be possible, but difficult, and insecure.

I seriously doubt that a psp running even at 333mhz would be able to brute force its self into a wep key. I had this problem when I lived in my apartment and eventually just went upstairs and explained my situation. The old lady was real nice and gave me the wep key. Best free internet I ever got.
