Exclamation New to Homebrew PSP

Hey Guys, I am new to the PSP homebrew thing. My friend was explaining to me how it works, but, I am severely lacking when it comes to this kind of thing. HE said I'd need a GTA game, a cable that connects my computer to my PSP, and a larger memory stick. I am trying to get a GBA emulator. I have the version 2.6 software for my PSP. I was just wondering if you could explain to me how to use homebrew. I was looking in the tutorial section, but I don't understand all of the words and phrases that you guys use. Thanks for taking the time to read this,

CJ

you will also need a unpatched gta umd, you can check this cy checking if it has an 2.60 or 2.00 update included. if it is 2.60, you can not use it.
go to noobz.eu for tutorials, downloads and the help you need.

PS: there is a new exploit, and a new eLoader (a way to load homebrew on your psp) is on its way. you will not need gta for this, and it will work on your 2.60. No one knows when it will be released, but i guess two weeks or something. dont ask anything about its release, coz ppl will get mad at you lol. no one knows

Welcome to PSP3D and the PSP Community BTW!
send me a pm if you have a question

first heres some adivce. downgrade. 2nd, im a dumbass that updated to 2.8 but you do need a USB cable. you can find them in some standard digital camera. i got mine from there. and larger memory stick... i dont think so. if you ONLY want the GBA Emu. and a few games thats fine. but if you want other homebrew, you will need a bigger one.

i'd say, think before downgrading. whit a 1.5 psp, it is possible to brick (destroying) it. the downgrade process has a little risk aswell.
secound: why downgrade? you wont miss much... i haven't downgraded, and i dont miss the 1.5 feautures.

as Anti Alchemist 5 said, you can use a 32mb ms, but i'd suggest a 128mb-1gb i dont think you'll have any need for anything bigger than that.

a downgrader makes your psp "upgrade" to a lower firmware. the oppocite of upgrading your fw. example: going from 2.00 to 1.50

Downgrading is when you "downgrade" your PsP to a lower firmware (Usually FW 1.5). PsPs with FW 1.5 can run homebrew from the memory stick, and they can also run ISOs.

If I were you, I would think before using a downgrader. It's safe and all, but there is that 0.1% chance you can end up messing up your PsP.

1) PsP FW 1.5 (Traded my 2.6 and GTA for it!! OMG YES!)
2) Logitech Case (I'm very paranoid)
3) SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo (Account Name: Terraka)
4) Star Wars: Battlefront II (I'm a big Star Wars fan!)
5) Kingdom of Paradise (It's actually pretty fun. Took me awhile to get into it though...)
6) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Traded... gone... but got a 1.5 instead!)

lol u do miss a lot by not having a 1.5, first you can't customize your firmware, you have to load homebrew through an unstable way (meaning sometimes your psp freezes out of no where), you can't listen to your music amd play homebrew or a umd at the same time, and you can't load iso's!!! and a 1.5 can do as much as a 2.71 can do so there are no downsides
