What would happen or what happens if you were emulating fw 2.71 with devhook and tried updating to fw 2.80+? would it brick, do nothing, overwrite the 2.71 files with 2.80+ ones and allow us to emulate that? it might be a lame question, but i'm just curious.

In order to do that, we need NAND Driver Emulation, which booster got working, but it was way too slow, so he stopped. Also, its simple to get the decrypted, and decompressed reboot.bin for 2.60+ now, including 2.80/2.81, just use the new decryptor by Dark_Alex, and you get a decrypted dump of that firmware, which it also decrypts and decompresses the reboot.bin, but in 2.80+ their is a new security on the reboot.bin, which checks every PRX to make sure it was installed for your specific PSP, which basically made it harder to emulate, but that was concored already with the latest version of Dark_Alex's decryptor, now all we need is someone to implement support for 2.80/2.81 in the DevHook .46 Source code.
And On Topic: All it would do is come back to emulated xmb and give you a game could not be started error, so no brickage chance |

@jonnyp777, According to what sony released way back at E3, it is should come out between Sept. 5th and Oct. 5th. These are the projected release dates for the PSP Camera and GPS, respectively. The update was sandwiched between them. But looking at the ps3 and a blu-ray player, we all know how well Sony does with a deadline, so it could be in a month or two, maybe even a year.
Here you go mate, I found a link to the picture for ya. "Memorystick Boot" is predicted to be the ps1 EMU. Enjoy! http://psp3d.com/homebrew-hacking/11...-november.html
