2.80 downgrader? Ain't gonna happen. Not without a new kernel-mode exploit.

totally agree

Why do people want to downgrade? If a eloader comes out for 2.8 than wouldn't that mean it can do everything except load iso's?

Mostly. Thing's you can't do on 2.8 besides ISO's:
  • iRShell
  • PSPRadio, dynamic (meaning you can listen to music and use afkim to chat on you favorite IM)
  • Lua player .17+ (.16 is the last user-mode version)
  • Any other homebrew that loads modules (i.e., "multitask")
  • CW Cheat
  • Dev-hook
  • Custom Firmwares
  • Latest versions of many emulators like SNEStyl-ME and DGEN that use the media engine (Yes, this does matter. I noticed a 60~100% increase in FPS)
  • and other applications.
But yes, you can do most things on 2.8 that you can on 1.5 (I'm assumming that it is as compatable as the latest e-loader, this may differ for odd reasons). I think about 80% of all homebrew works in user mode. But from experiance (I downgraded from 2.6, many of my homebrews still are not K-Xploited ), those 20% make a big difference. I downgraded to try out the Loco Roco demo on dev-hook (this was before the new TIFF exploit was found, and I did not want to upgrade), and I am hooked on 1.5. Once a kernal loader is made, I'll most likely go up to 2.71, but I love kernal apps too much to upgrade before then.

Hopefully he'll learn not to try and push quite possibly unconstitutional bills though the state assembly and then waste tax money fighting it in court. Plus, he has failed the bar exam 4 times . Disclaimer: These are my opinions, and I am wholy responsible for them.

Just an FYI: Kernel access won't necessarily make custom firmware possible, since there seem to be more checks on the files (i.e. vshmain.prx cannot be unencrypted). The problem here would be somehow ensuring that a RAM-based module patch stays loaded after being applied in eLoader, since exiting to the XMB causes a full reboot.

Otherwise, a good list

Also: We had 2.70 and 2.71 decrypted for quite some time, and while I did find some interesting information in it, I didn't find anything that helped us find the new exploit.

cheap skates and liar's who say im trying before i buy, want iso's to save 20-30 quid. which requires a stable 1.5 to work really.
