Yes, the PSAR and flash files can be extracted out of the e-boot. BUT reboot.bin has not been decrypted yet, and untill that file is, there is no emulating of 2.8x via devhook.

ok i have the 2.82 reboot.bin file and yes the prx's are encrypted and so is the reboot.bin but i got them all....
how would i know if the reboot.bin is usable?? (unencrypted or watever!)
and to my understanding 2.xx isn't usable yet because no one has made it usable and everything was already decrypted and uncompressed> correct me if im wrong!!

Reboot.bin and the prx's are still encypted. The encryption on the update eboots isn't strong, hence the reason you can extract them via a moddified PSAR dumper. BUT, the reboot.bin and the other prx files are very strongly encypted with many layers of security. Sony changes this every few updates (usually when we crack one of them). Untill someone decrypts reboot.bin (and trust me, this will be on the front page of every major site, not in a small forum topic on psp3d), Devhook emulation is impossible.

The standard way to decrypt reboot.bin is to trick the psp's os into "fake upgrading" and decrypt the files using it's own hardware and software. This isn't happening untill booster (or some other awsome dev) says it will, because only they know exactly what happens and where to intercept the bios to remove all encryption on reboot.bin

In short, you have a dump, an extract, a copy of what is written to the flash. Just like you can move and un-zip or un-rar encrypted files on your computer, you can un-pack an eboot on your psp. But you cannot run the files that have been extracted until some other hacker decrypts them for you.

dude nvm i used the 2.80/2.81 dark_alex decrypter (AND THAT ONE WAS ABLE TO BE RAN ON 1.5 AND DECRYPT EVERY FILE INCLUDING THE REBOOT.BIN) i was just wondering since the encryption on 2.81 wasn't changed and 2.8 has been dumped and fully decrypted already...... its just that the same decrypter (moddified 2.80 psar dump by dark_alex) and it said every file was decrypted, extracted then dumped!! so i thought yea since it did the same and the reboot.bin doens't look compressed nor encrypted!!

also firmware 2.80 and 2.81 was decrypted a while back and wasn't able to run via devhook because booster was chased out of the psp scene due to sony lawsuits!!

Cheer up!

Just remember, the world is not COMPLETELY dead to you yet...

There are homebrew that work from your browser (on any psp 2.71 and up) that give you links to lots of stuff online, there are demos that we hacked to work on 2.80 that are made for 2.81 and 2.82, and other smaller programs using the image trick that you can mess with until someone breaks it....

Honestly, my brother also updated and I am trying to KEEP him from upgrading again by finding stuff he can use....

Keep the faith man. If anyone can do this, I bet ya Dark_Alex will be it.
