Dark_Alex's Generic Downgrader is a little like an EBOOT loader, and force starts the upgrade EBOOT from 2.71 (SE). So all you need is the app and the update EBOOT.

Dark Alex's Generic Downgrader allows you to flash any eboot.pbp for any firmware, from 1.0-2.71...

^_^ That is how I got my 2.6 downgraded... I upgraded to 2.71, used his generic downgrader to get to 1.5, then I upgraded to 2.71 se b'.

O.o and as for the "homebrew" not working, I am not sure about that. I have gotten all homebrew I have tried to work, even IR shell, buy turning the eboot into a 1.0 eboot, and running it through that 2.71 se fixer program...
