I feel like I want to start "hacking" the PSP.

I know quite a bit about coding and all that, I know a lot about PC's but I've never really tried doing homebrew or hacking and coding something for PSP to run homebrew. You know how like Edison got his Cheat Device working? Well I kept actually thinking about doing the same thing, way before he actually did it. I never tried anything on my PSP because I have a fear of bricking it. I just have a question. Is it really difficult to crack the PSP? I know quite a bit about computers and I know there is security. But there is ALWAYS a way around the security. I think I might start trying to do it. Maybe through Edison's Cheat Device.

about difficulty:
just see it that way: there are many people worldwide owning a PSP with a sufficient base of knowledge regarding programming. and still: the PSP is not cracked. there are some exploits which allow a certain access to kernelmode, but not without difficulties or restrictions.

Yes, principlely there is always a way for cracking/hacking something. but never forget that this small piece of technology is absolutely highteched and owned by an economic empire like SONY is, you can be sure they dont want anyone to get it hacked due to massive breakdown of games being sold. and remember they put some highlevel programmers on it whos JOB it is to restrict the kind of access we all dream of here.

That means: yes, it's difficult.
and if versions like 2.01, 2.5 or 2.6 were "hacked", it does NOT mean these versions where hacked, but a downgrade can be made to a version with less restrictions. so once again: yes, cracking the PSP is a hard job.

Gekko
