Question JSO is a new

JiSO (ISO9660 Converter v1.00) file formats. For those who didn't know, JSO is a

new file format that intends to achieve faster decompression and/or smaller file

size. I was seeing if anyone has tryed or hjave heard of this format

I saw this too, its VERY interesting, but I cant exactly test it as I suck in dos.

As of now blade, its only an EXE that has to be exectuted in dos, then you have to type specific actions in order to get the actual JSO, we have to wait for someone to make a decent GUI for it I guess. Also, the way they are played is via a new module for Devhook, it replaces the umdciso.prx in your kd folder which allows JSO's to work, the creator of the DAX Plugin made it for Devhook.

I hope a GUI is made soon, id love to test its capabilities ^_^

I have made a new thread in the 'Members News' section about the JSO plugin for DevHook and the new version of ISO COmpressor which supports JSO... if you would kindly redirect your discussion to this thread it would be much appreciated (lol).

Monkeyboy, feel free to do some testing on loading times if you wish (and if you are good with a stopwatch :P)

ok ive tested it with ratchet and clank demo iso

results:
ISO - 61,676KB
CSO - 55,639KB - 30 seconds to compress
DAX - 54,836KB - 40 seconds to compress
JSO - 57,447KB - 2 minutes to compress

jso is slower and less compressed

This is a good find, but it is of no use to me. I need my games to be more compressed. I only have a 512MB stick. I do plan on getting a 1 GB stick soon, but alas I have no money.

I guess it's not the best compresser then, just a new format. It does seem like it compressed that Clank demo a bit better than the other formats, judging by those results.
