So if I want to brew it what should I do next?

I am assuming revving back to 1.5, but I want deep and informed opinions about what to do next.

I don't want to brick my new (used) PSP. But I want to learn this new art. I am a hardware software guru so I don't think this will be hard, but I wanna do it right the first time!

That covers how to downgrade, how to upgrade, how to unupgrade, how to convert a psx game to psp, different types of homebrew, etc.

I found a tutorial and got brave. I thought I got to 1.50, until my video kept going "off".

I think I stopped the update too soon!

I thought I bricked my new (used) PSP. The video would come back on randomly after about 20 seconds, but every time I pushed a button it would go off again. I could see the PSP was working. SO I would move to the place I needed to be and then when the video came back I would execute a task. Using this method I was able to restore the PSP to 2.71!!! YEA!!!

So now I will try to downgrade again but I hope it goes smoother this time.

My big question is if I roll back to 1.50 and it looses video again, how long do I wait before I reboot the PSP? I got to the blue screen with all the different languages and the "press O" to continue, I believe. But when I pressed "O" the screen went blank. Is that normal? If it happens again then what?

I was worried for a bit, since I thought I bricked the $160.00 PSP.

I will wait for more info before I start over again!

You should really be using the generic downgrader, no?

http://downgrader.lan.st/GENERIC_DOWNGRADER_(2.71).rar

Install the app, download the 1.50 update EBOOT.PBP, rename it to UPDATE.PBP, and put it in the same directory as the main executable. (Not the folder with the % on the end).

Run from the Game menu via HEN.

Between pj1115, dorkdork777, and theaceoffire I GOT MY psp downgraded to 1.50 and then upgraded to 3.03 OE A, A2, and now B!!!

The first try really made my anus pucker! When I got the black screen I thought I had bricked! Turned out that I was able to flash back to 1.50 with some patience and a lot of sweating.

I then started over with a nice guide from someone (I believe it was aces)
and some expert advice, coaching from pa115 and dorkdork777, I got flashed up!

All is well now and I need more info on what to add to pimp my PSP!
