Anyway, to find out your firmware, go to Settings - System Settings - System information, then tell us what comes after System Software. Don't worry, the information is in no way personal. Here's a list of anything it could be - - 1.00
- 1.50
- 1.51
- 1.52
- 2.00
- 2.01
- 2.50
- 2.60
- 2.70
- 2.71
- 2.80
- 2.81
- 2.82
- 3.00
- 3.01
- 3.02
- 3.03
- 3.10
The most important thing to remember is to never upgrade your firmware unless someone over here tells you to. Upgrading to any firmware may disable homebrew for you, at least for a while.

Homebrew has been blocked by Sony again in 3.10

EDIT: Sorry, didn't read your post above. Basically, Sony doesn't want us to play homebrew on the PSP, as it cuts down UMD sales. So we need to find ways to run homebrew anyway.
Talented coders look through the firmware, looking for a crack. Once they find one, they break out the hammer and chisel and crack it open, until there is a big enough gap for homebrew to be played. 3.10 is, at the moment, the only firmware without a discovered crack.
Obviously, they don't really break out the hammer and chisel and make a hole in a PSP. That would be a pointless waste of cash. I was just explaining it in a way (I hope) you can understand.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you this time I was busy.
