| Yer well i was the same as you champ with the whole "i dont wanna trust myself to directly delete and edit the flash0" until about a week ago. Iv been hacking around, replacing and rename PRX's and RCO's in HEx and all kinds of junk, tryin to fiddle and stuff... it's actually pretty hard 2 brick... i physically deleted (by accident) the vshmain.prx, and the XMB wouldnt boot but i just restored the file from my entire f0) backup and all is well.
Its a lot more fun when u get down and dirty and just HEX edit and decompile and junk, but i'll prolly brick my PSP pretty soon lol. All i know is that i should NEVER change the files in f0:/kd and f0:/kn co those are critical system files of the firmware (kd is the 1.5 bootstrap part of OE, and kn is the 3.03 part. This is the same as vsh/module being 1.5, and vsh/nodule being 3.03. So dont fiddle with the 1.5 stuff if you manual edit coz it can FULLY brick your PSP (coz the 1.5 files are needed to get into recovery, whereas 3.03 isnt loaded if you hold R on bootup).
Sorry for long post, but yer just thought id say that. Peace
