| | | | Is there a 3.40 downgrade to use homebrews? I have a psp that initially had 2.71 firmware a friend of mine did an update and made it a 3.40 is there anyway to get it back to 2.71 to then get 3.40 oe to use homebrews?.....or am I screwd

Points: 0.00 Donate | | | Your pretty much screwed. U should try to get another PSP w/ either 3.03 or lower if possible. Only 3.03 and below r currently downgradable. But when an exploit is found on 3.40 FW u'll kno and a possible downgrade could come of it but that hasn't happen yet. |

with it starting out at 2.71 I would have thought that you could delete the 3.40 upgrade and start over?

Points: 0.10 Donate | | | Yeah, but an exploit is bound to eventually be found. If you can't wait, check to see if you're TA-082 (Google how), and then send your PSP in to the Modchip place to get an Undilated Platinum Modchip. They basically allow you to have two firmwares installed on one PSP.

Well, it's sort of a modchip - the page describes it as a "pretty sophisticated USB-JTAG programmer for a lot of NAND flash ICs." This basically means you can reflash your firmware (or another firmware) through USB. The chip has no onboard flash, but that is not needed.
It also can be installed in any PSP (including TA-082+), something the UP never got round to. However, there will be two versions, one for TA-079-TA-081 and another for TA-082+. It's also gonna be a lot cheaper than the UP, because of the lack of onboard flash.
