| | | What are my options? As you can see by my postcount I'm kind of new to PSP homebrew's/hacks.
I recently got a PSP with firmware 1.5. Now I have a couple of question concerning playing homebrew's/backups
What do I need besides the Memorystick and the 1.5 firmware?
Is it just as easy as putting the ISO's/CSO's on the memorystick and boot them on the PSP or do I need extra software/firmware?
Does the 1.5 Firmware support all sizes of Memorystick and all games?
Thanks in advance. If I'm annoying with my noobquestions you could refer me to a wiki ;-) |

Secondly, There is a PSP programmer called Dark_AleX, who writes custom firmware. His custom firmware allows you to run homebrew and illegal material through the memory stick + having the latest firmware features. You can download the easy installer of his latest custom firmware '3.40 OE-a' Here
To install this, you need to copy the eboot folders into ms0:\PSP\GAME\
3.40 OE-a is compatible with everything Sony has to offer, so you can basically have the best of both worlds!
Lastly, you can download practically every bit of homebrew created here.
Most people are excused the first time they talk about illegal content, but the next time you could get banned; So take my warning. My e-mail is written in my signature, so contact me via that if you have any questions... |

Q1) You need a USB cable, a computer and an internet connection.
Q2) It's easy, you just need the files for the homebrew, then put them on.
Q3) I think it supports every homebrew game and MSs up to 2gb (might be 4gb, not sure). |

I would not recommend 1.50 to you, because Dark-AleX's custom firmware has everything that 1.50 has + more. You can see updates and other applications/firmwares/plugins on Dark_AleX's Official Website. |

| | | | Excellent, thanks for the answers! I'll shut my yap about ISO's then.
Couple of more questions though ;-)
Do I need to upgrade the 1.5 firmware to do what I want to?
If I do upgrade to Dark Alex's newest firmware do I get the benefits of Sony firmware (like the support of larger Memory Sticks and the support for other image files) and play homebrew's? |

But if you want to go in the internet, play newly released games (ISO or not), play PS1 games, use Rss, use Location Free, use remote play with PS3, AND use Homebrew, you probably want to get a custom firmware from dark_alex.
