Ok, so today a woman came in my store and was telling me how she bought a psp from somebody and when she tried to upgrade her psp it wouldn't let her because she wanted to play a game that required 3.03, so when we got a new game to upgrade it would say Error

DADADA).

So thats when we realized that her psp had Version 2.71 SE-B, and since this psp was for her son, who has autism (sp.) he has been really depressed because he cant play his new games.

So my question is, how can i take that generic version off and then put the official sony update on it? any downgraders? And if you can help, can you give VERY detailed instrutions on how to do this, thank you.

well, if you'd like, you can keep up with the oe-updates: the newest is 3.40. this will also lead him to play other games like snes, nes, etc. and homebrew.
if you really want to downgrade, go in usb mode, and add a folder to the root, "RECOVERY", like that. in this folder, i'm not sure exactly what you put in it (but hopefully one of these good people do know). then hold the power button in until it shuts off, then restart it holding the R button. go to the selection that says "run RECOVERY folder", or something like that. then after you're back at 1.5, go to the system update, or download the newest from playstation's website.

Thank you very much, actually that helped alot, now all i need to know is what files to put in them, i think i need to put firmware 1.50 into the recovery folder and then do what you said. If anybody has any more help please reply asap, this woman came in crying and i just really want to help

EDIT: i would also like to add that the system doesnt have a memory stick, can i just take mine and extract the "recovery" folder, but it into my "game" folder and then put in the "1.50" update and do that or do i need to put the enitre 2.71 SE-B update on my memory stick???

Yeah, you should be able to do that. Just rename the 1.50 update to UPDATE.PBP. Oh, and be careful

If it would be easier, here's the set of files you need to use. 'Be careful' is the most important piece of advice we can give - though an update to 3.51 M33-7 would be both easier and would have better results, as all new games and homebrew work on that firmware.

But how easy is it to upgrade? No offemnce, but I doubt an autismic child is going to want to use emulators and when the time comes for him to upgrae, the process should be as easy as can be.

yeah i usually would know what to do, working at gamestop and all, but this time i had no where else to turn but a forum like this, i mean the woman came in the store crying that her son has mental disablilities and stuff and he couldnt play his smackdown vs raw 2007 and he was depressed and didnt want to eat, but thanks to all you guys i was able to put the right files in the right places in my memory stick and we were able to downgrade back to Sony's official 1.50 and then to their official 3.52. So i just want to say Thanks to everybody that helped, all you guys brighten up a childs day today(yeah i know sounds lame, but all you guys rock)
