| | | | Hardware Flash + Unbricking your PSP Hi,
I would like to introduce myself first, I work at Hewlett Packard (Ipaq department). I work as electrical engineer. thus I am not a good programmer and I dont know how to make a downgrader
I am a good at is electrician , with the help from team emergency exit, I was able to collect some data about the rom\ram chip used on the psp, and how its connected to the PCB board
now my idea is to take off the rom, get new one, program it with 1.5 firmware. then stick it back.
putting it back can not be done by hand since the chip need to be pressed by special machinery with a high precision. (same one used in factories) luckily we have one of those.
since I dont have brick myself, it would be greatly appreciated from people to donate their bricks.
in return, if my idea worked then you would have a 1.5 psp instead of a brick.
you should know that I have not tried this yet, it seems feasible but there is not guarantee.
If this idea worked, then I moving to hardware flash for psp 2.01+ to 1.5 and there will nothing that will stop us from downgrading
if you are interested then PM me.
Kindest Regards
UnBricker
edit: I live in uk, thus I will pay for the postage in case it was expensive |

This is a very interesting thing you say. I would assume that the PSP is some kind of EPROM, possibly even an EEPROM...? Just kind of curious here (i have light electronics experience). Well if any of this ever starts up, i wonder if there is an internal FLASH interface (ie, for use at the factory)...? If that were the case then i would definately like to help with making a FLASH BOX.. that is, a unit that interfaces physically with the PSP to flash through raw hardware flow.
Well.... i do hope this goes somewhere, but alas; i don't have a bricked PSP.... |

| | | thanks bboy_sonik,
any help would be appreciated. programming the rom is not the thing that worry me the most, its reattaching it
here are couple of pics to give you an idea about the connections http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=5601
at the back of the PCB there is not connections since the pins for the rom are embedded into the pcb itself, if it was not my job would be a lot simplier.
the chip is samsung K5E5658HCM, its 32Mb RAM and 32MB ROM chip.
interface will come in handy, but I need to know if this can be done first.

still waiting for people
