I came across this twice:

sness9X (YoyoFR's psp stuff - SnesPSP_TYL) has two versions, user-mode & kernel-mode (codename ME)
CPS2PSP (QuickJump Downloads-Emulators-PSP- -) has two versions, 3.xx user-mode & 1.50 kernel-mode

What is the difference between user-mode & kernel-mode? Why is it called user-mode & kernel-mode? What does ME stand for regarding snes9X emulator?

The CPS2PSP (Capcom PlaySystem 2) emulator readme files is all in japanese. Can someone help me locate the official homepage website & author email address as I would like to talk to the programmer.

ok, user mode is meaning that it does not need any cridical flash files to run. kernel mode means it needs all of the firmwares files to run, so you will need a custom firmware or 1.50. I have no clue for the other questions.

User Mode: Runs basic homebrew
Kernel Mode: runs more advanced homebrew. Like ddggttff3 said, it required all of the files in the flash.

Always check the readme for information of this when you download homebrew. Some homebrew will not work on some firmwares or through certain exploits.
