Now, after researching the Go, I'm against it - not the system itself, but the way Sony have handled its game compatability with its shoddy PSN and failure to follow through with its promise of letting you turn your UMDs into Go-functional ISOs (my gripe is not with DD, just Sony).
Anyway, I won't get bogged down in that. As a system, though, I like the Go for 3 reasons:
- Its concept (badly-executed as it is)
- Size
- Bluetooth functionality (if hooked up to a TV, you can play it via PS3 controller)
Hence, if it could play everything my 2K could, I'd get one. However, as it stands, a CFWed PSP has a much greater library of games than a Go, with no UMDs required.
However, on GameFAQs, I read that someone had managed to run custom code, the first step in CFW development, to run on a Go.
It's a great thought, a CFWed Go would have the game library of an old CFWed PSP, plus its more compact size and the bluetooth possibilities.
However, I'm hesitant to believe this, as I doubt Sony would use any PSP mobo other than the V3 one used in later 2Ks and the 3K, which render it unhackable.
Can this be confirmed or denied? |

Oh and you're right the Go is a rip off for PSP users with UMD because Sony wants you to rebuy all your games online just so they can make more money. That's why I won't buy one. It does have some cool features but I won't pay for games I already own EDIT:
Ok I found this: Quote: |
PSP hacker FreePlay has released video proof for his PSP Go exploit (Hello World). You can view the video at the read more link. There is however a catch, FreePlay has stated that he will not be releasing the exploit unless there is a good reason to. The exploit does NOT write to the flash (just usermode), so this would not lead to CFW, ISO loaders etc. FP does mention that this IS patchable so technically the refusal to release can most likely be in our favor.
| There is also a video which can be seen here. I would have embedded it but HTMl code seems to be off.
Anyway this looks like it may be legit. If they can get kernel access we may have CFW on the PSP Go. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

I like it the way it is now - some tangible and some digital. Usually I'll buy the UMD if it's cheaper, but I will buy Monster Hunter off PSN as it's 2 euro cheaper than what I can get it for, not to mention faster loading and better on battery - however I'm not sold on the idea of not using discs. It's just laziness.
Oh, also, I like DD for one other reason - exploiting DRM to share with friends. |
