other idea.... what is with the umd?? if you start upgrade with a umd and switch the umd with an umd with 1.5 or 2.0 may work

Nope, in 2.5/2.6 the index.dat is hidden, a downgrader for 2.01 is possible, but right now beyond that is doubtful
