Thumbs up GTA: LCS Cheat SaveData works with 2.5 now

I was looking at the param.sfo from edison carter when it was released. He fixed it for 2.5. This is however very interesting and should be explore further.

Edited: Calling from the param.sfo is right. The thing is how the hell he edit the data.bin. The param.sfo is already in the right state. I doubt he edited the param.sfo. Most likely just the bin itself. Very smart indeed.

Edited: Here the link: http://www.maxbot.com/gta/
I'm guessing user mode on 2.5 guys? haha

Looks like it's confirmed as working on 2.01.

One poster has noticed that if you hold down L and left it shows all running threads. Dunno if this is useful to anyone.

Whilst not loading yet on 2.5 he is confident on getting it going.
It seems the is a way to get the actual game save to load but the cheat doesnt activate...

If this is the case, chances of running codes using the save game is high. Yeah, the author of GTA: LCS cheat needs to explain how he edit the data.bin. It would prove useful to the community.

Fanjita did reply on this.

To put to rest some speculation:

This runs arbitrary unsigned code, in user-space. i.e. it's a full-on code hack, it doesn't just modify a few data bytes.
It's not a window to kernel-mode, much to everyone's disappointment
It's GTA-specific, and apparently region-specific and firmware-specific. But it should be possible to modify it for other firmwares and regions.
To my knowledge, Edison doesn't have access to insider info. He's just spent weeks understanding the save-game format, and the ways in which it can be manipulated.

This is an exciting exploit, and hopefully lots more good stuff will come from it.

------------------------------------

Looks rather interesting. At least this is an "exploit" compare to all the other BS which has no progress or proof. People get so hype and excited over a stupid crash. Look! Now this 2.6 FW everyone like hey should I upgrade, etc. Would it hurt to not upgrade for the time being?

The freaking 2.6fw is not a drug. Just wait and see, let those diehard anti-homebrew users test them. Those who wanna use homebrew should just chill off.

Unless you very good with binary else using a hex editor only shows raw data in hexadecimal values. I believe the .bin is encrypted? So its even harder, wonder if edison carter would share how he did it. Wouldn't it be valuable to the community?
