I have a PSP program called "NO UPDATE" that loads a UMD disk even if it needs an update. I tried it with my demo UMD witch does not work under 1.5 and it worked!

Has anyone tried it with GTA? I don't own the game right now so I can't try... But I'm considering buying it in the near future but under no circumnstances I want to upgrade my PSP.

This is the second PSP I bought, it had 2.00, I downgraded to 1.5, I'm happy with it and don't upgrade even if I could play DOOM 3 on it. My first one is 2.01 and I'm selling it for this reason so don't talk about upgrades!

Doesn't work on GTA, sorry dude

GTA needs a special video codec named AVC. 1.5 doesn't have it, so that means GTA can't load on 1.5 unless someone worked more on that firmware loader thing. But yea, it wont work without that codec, and it also has other checks for security reasons

Most likely not. I have never tried this program, but as far as I know, there are no umd loaders that sucsessfully run some 2.0+ games. The reson is, 2.0 has the newer mp4 codecs (among other things) and can play these files, whereas 1.5 does not. Some games need these codecs (GTA), but others don't (the Sample Disc) and they only check for the version number. I hope this helps.

That's bad... Here comes another problem for 1.5 users... No compatibility with new games! I thought there would be easy ways to solve such problems but now I understand that it isn't so easy... They managed to make GTA not working on 1.5 why not do it with every new game from now on? We are scr*wed...
I'm now considering on not selling my second 2.01 PSP!!!
