Lightbulb hack at start up???...

with most pc's you get to the bios befor windos os even loads would there be a way to get to lets say a "dos" like program. its just an idea, since i know very little about the PSP OS other then you have very little control over this mini computor. what do you know about the OS cuz i thought about just simply remanming all the files in the EBOOT for 1.5 to i higher fake OS call it 2.54 or soemthing messing with all the anti downgrading stuff programed into 2.5.

anone know how to actuly look at the program that runs when you simply try to downgrade to 1.5.

i went to school to be an electronic tech, and in all the OS i have used they all have a back door for the tech guys so they can fix problems with in the psp. normaly at start up, maybe a difrent aproch is needed inorder to crack this. I dont think that sony would make a system that couldnt be gotten to by tech... even if it there own techs who are in the system.

Damn dude maybe you should have taken english classes instead? Your spelling almost made me violently ill! It also made it almost impossible to understand what you are talking about.

Its the firmware itself that is causing the problems, not any bios code executed at startup.

As for sony techs needing a backdoor... not true.

All they need to be able to do is flash a new version of the firmware to fix it. If that doesnt work, then they would frisbee it to the nearest bin and send the user a new one.

Imagine paying a highly skilled tech on probably $30 - $50 per hour to fix something that costs probably about US$180 from the factory.

liken it to refilling a disposeable cigarette lighter.

I would rather pay a tech for one hour of work than waste $180. It won't take a trained tech longer than an hour to "reflash" a brick, and it would save Sony a lot of money.

Sony HAS to have their own way of reflashing "bricked" PSPs. The logistics and costs associated with just "tossing it into the trash and sending a new one" make absolutely no business sense. I've noticed that on "cold boots" the PSP MS light flashes very quickly. This is probably the MS modules initializing and then checking for a memorystick to load. It could also have something coded into it to look for a specific file that Sony could use to "fix-a-brick" by auto-reflashing the firmware with whatever version they currently use.
Either that or they just crack the sucker open and reflash it using custom equipment. I'm pretty sure they just don't "chuck 'em in the trash". That would also lead to HUGE disposal problems for them in the future and could lead to heat from the EPA (or whatever EPA-like organization a country has).
Remember all the hooplah over PC disposal and mercury/lead PCB content rising in landfills?
