Most equipment has two locations for firmware.
The reason that you have two locations is thus:
1. You keep the current version in one bank
2. You are able to copy in a new firmware then transfer once a parity check is complete. This enables a backout in the event of a check not being complete.
Now from what I have read we have read/write access to Flash/1 but not Flash 0.
Firstly when was the lock down of the flash put in place.(what software version) The reason I ask is that the lock must be able to be breached by new software loads (2.5/2.6?). In order to breach the lock you must know what the key is. I think the key to the lock must be located both in the current firmware (authentication part1 and also any new firmware.(on UMD authentication part 2).
Anyone else got a take on this? |

If the lock was put in place in 2.01 then the key is located in the upgrades since then. This would be the only way of upgrading. |

I really think the key must be in there. How else can you upgrade? |

New games require you to upgrade right? Well if the game requires an update then it obviously checks which firmware you have installed. It also offers you the upgrade right!!!!!
The key must be, must be in the new firmware load. |

Edit:
And if the psp decrypt it with some sort of program, and we can dump everything on the psp, that should mean that we can decrupt the update files.....
or am i totally wrong?
Pls kernal, correct me
