| | | | max out space on memory stick Hi, I have a sandisk 1gb memory stick duo for my psp and I know that I dont get the full 1gb of free space on my psp. I was wondering why this is and if it is possible to somehow max out the space on my memory stick so I have closer to the actual 1gb of free space. Thanks |

Lets do a comparision....
Your comp/psp:1gb=2^30=1,073,741,824 bytes
MS maker:1gb=10^9=1,000,000,000 bytes
SO, your MS has 1,000,000,000 bytes, NOT 1,073,741,824 bytes. YES, the company is cheating you out of 73 Mb because they can. So lets go on. Lets convert the 1,000,000,000 bytes into what your psp thinks it has:953 Mb. That's a differance of 47 Mb. This is not because of "hidden files," a MBR, "rounding," partitioning, or anything. Reformating will NOT help. It's just because humans use base 10, and computers use base 2. By the way, this happens with your Hard drive too. I have a "60 Gb" Hdd, and yet I really only have 55.8 Gb of space. If you still don't beleve me, go to google, and type "1,000,000,000 bytes to megabytes" and it will do the conversion for you. | One of my previous post. Please search next time, this has already been discussed.
