Question Custom firmware?

Could there be custom firmware updates? Is there a way to hack the code and create custom 2.7, etc...

its in the process of being figured out... work is continuing on the flasher which will wipe the memory clean and allow us to downgrade... this will hopefully open the door to custom firmware...

Question Sony can

If Sony has the power to upgrade, wouldn't it be possible to find how they do it and break the code? And would it be possible to create a custom Eboot file with sony's code.

it is always possible, anything can happen, but the question is when??? And how many people are actually working on it, because as far as I see, everyone is working on a downgrader for 2.5/2.6

so custom firmware could be like a slimed-down version of say, windows XP, or feather linux? Or just incorporated ideas of new features?

I think it can be possible although I haven't looked at it. And I see someone has already created something, and its posted in this forum, but everyone said that it doesn't work.
