| | | | Psp downgrader idead (2) Befor I state my idea I would like to say that no i am not a noob, but this could be a stupid idea. Here zre my ideas
What if you created a mod chip for the psp. Would it work? Also I know that in a HDD you can always retrive a lost file so, do you think that you could retrive the file for the 1.5 or below firmware from the memory stick.
Plz dont flame me if this is a bad idea! |

altho the guys over at hitmen have done a great job trying to document the cpu / flash of the psp , it is a reletivly complex chip. with very few exposed test points , so hooking in a modchip to fool the ipl:// bootstrap is tricky (altho i must admit via software i think the major players are lurning more about it everyday... and there is alot of "underground" talk)
as for "undeleting" if i understand you correctly,, the flash , nand ic's dont quiet work the same as with hardrives.. the bits get "burnt" onto the chip (yes this is a very basic explanation) so recovering the the prevoius bit state is near imposible.. remember also that this would have to be done in slave mode (flash removed from the board) not in a running system.. but this is a smd (surface mount with the pins under the chip ((and alot of them)) not many ppl have acces to desolder this chip and succsesfully replace it again in a working state.
i dont fully understand why you mention the ms in all this as the ms is only a means of transfering the update to the flash , the "bios" or functions of the psp never rely on saving any firmware files onto the ms...it is all on the cpu / flash chip (yes it is 1 chip)

And yeah, this wont work. I mean sure, if someone made a modchip to bypass the current flash, and had it go into its own, then that would be a possibility.
But yeah, the files arn't stored on the memory card etc.
