flash eproms?

I am new to this forum.

I have read some threads about downgrading....

Why cant u just do it the hard way and just write over the flash eprom that has the image of the operating system?

cheers

Few people are doing this because it is more complex then you see it.

The PSP's EEPROM (Note, it is an EEPROM and not an EPROM) is not only an EEPROM, no no, it is a MCP (Multi Chip Package) Which contains the NAND and the DDR SDRAM so removal of the chip would be easy, but when you went to put it back on, if there was just the slightest timing discrepency, the PSP would not work.

Our team, Three Four the Win, has proper datasheets of the chip, motherboard layouts (Including trace lables), a Universal EEPROM Programmer, and the know how to go about doing this, it is not recommended for the average user, currently, but we hope to develope a clip-on device that will allow anyone who can open their PSP to unbrick, or downgrade their PSP, hence the two project names of Unbricker and Universal Downgrader
