I would love to take a look at that psp I have opened quite a few with this error and they all had the corrosion, which I think stems from over used/bad cmos batteries.

If it is occuring in one firmware and not the other then you have a bad firmware, which I know to not be the case since I have used the same firmware on several psp's the only ones that got the error had the corrosion all over the inside of them, and the error went away on every psp I cleaned, so you be the judge, there may be another cause for your error but every psp I looked at with this error had the corrosion and was fixed once the corrosion was removed.

Also if it gets very bad it may leave little traces of it on the outside of the memory card.

It's Terrible SHAME that sony wants you to pay $89.00 to replace the PSP that came straight form their assembly line with the internal error code from hell: 80410a08
