| | | | I am working on a wireless sniffer. It is a slow process because I don't believe the PSP drivers were compiled with monitor mode enabled in the drivers, so I need to write new ones and somehow replace them. Not easy.
This means the wireless packets not destined for the mac address of the PSP you have in your hand will not even get thru to the operating system, hence you can't sniff it (like you can with kismet and monitor mode enabled cards)
I don't want to release a clone of all the other so called sniffers, as they are purely wifi scanners and do just the same as the inbuilt network scan - they all use exactly the same syscalls as Sony does. The latest one that was released does give a nice interface, saves network info etc, but it really isnt a sniffer.
I have been studying the sourcecode for a similar marvell chipset, but I would like to be able to study the actual firmware from an actual PSP. |

| | | | you could have just as easily typed in "sniffer" into a google searchbar, it would actually have been less keystrokes and now you would know.
but to humour you, it is a program that extracts network traffic from a network, usually traffic not intended to be collected. In the case of wireless, just read the kismet homepage - yes, I am gonna make you google it!
btw, what exactly does a "senior member" mean? IMHO postcount is inversely proportional to common sense... |

Post count doesn't show knowledge at all, it just shows how long you've been on the forums.

| | | | I guess the only help would be more info on the wireless drivers or firmware. Not an easy thing to get help on :-) | |
