Points: 3.30 Donate | | | An idea for Sony! I have an idea reguarding homebrew gaming on newer firmwares. Perhaps (someone who has the relations with Sony in the first place to be able to bring this to their attention) could suggest something like an alternate upgrade. What I mean is maybe there could be two options when "network updating" to a newer firmware:1. The firmware is FREE and does not support any homebrew games or apps. 2. A fee is required to upgrade, has the same features as the first one and DOES support homebrew. Now while I was typing this, I just realized the problem of how you would acually pay (damn) but Im sure theres a way to pay money from maybe a feature in the next firmware (which would only be added if Sony comes up with this on their own of reads this) but its probably unlikely. But that can be fixed. Keep in mind if this were to be considered by Sony, Im sure there would be changes made. And by a "FEE" I dont mean like 50$ but I also dont mean 99... hmm theres no cent cymbol on my keyboard... is there supposed to be one? What do you guys think? Ive made a previous post about working with Sony so I came up with this. I hope this may be looked upon and taken serisouly. It could really change something IF it is taken serisouly and thought about... I hope. |

| | | | I woud NEVER buy firmware! plus, hackers could easily find a way to get the update eboot and then have it flying over the net. Thats the bad thing for sony. Another reason why they wouldnt do it is because they'd still loose TONS of money because they'd allow you to play iso's and iso's are sony's nightmare. They would have to make it EXTREMELY expensive to buy this firmware. Not to mention again that hackers could easily hack into a psp with that firmware and send it out on the net for free. There is just no plus side to this. |

Sony will not release legal use of homebrew for 2 reasons : 1) so long as apps like PSPset exist, somepeople will scew up while it's flashing, resulting in a brick, Sony themselves would gladly replace a broken PSP, but the reports of "bricked PSP's hurt their reputation and sales. 2) So long as the are homebrew apps that work at all, Iso's can be played, Sony is legally obligated to protect their games and privately owned game developer's rightful profits.
I have explained the reasons n00b.

I still would be pissed though, I put a $500 Investment in my PSP and to pay extra so it works better and more effieciently seems cheap...but I still like the Idea of having Homebrew and the firmware. Can I be on both sides of the case.
