Points: 16.97 Donate | | | Installing drivers from 2.7 firmware onto 1.5 Would it be possible to install the friver from 2.7 that allows 8GB mem sticks to be compatible? I know that the 8GB sticks aren't out right now but that would be a useful thing to have for the future (I could fit my whole UMD collection onto that and only have 1 UMD in the drive and quite a few SNES and Neo Geo CD roms to). |

No firmware below 2.7 can use 8GB mem sticks, I was asking if the drivers that allow 2.7 to support 8GB mem sticks could be written onto 1.5's flashh so people on 1.5 can use the 8GB mem sticks. |

it is theoretically possible, but it would mean completely changing the firmware to load the drivers on boot.
It is a shot in the dark, to be honest. 70% chance of bricking, is my guess.
Besides, Sandisk are not far behind, their super-fast memory sticks are already announced, and i'm sure a massive capacity memory stick will folow soon. |

EDIT: That way a custom firmware wouldn't be needed. |

Points: 1.44 Donate | | | Might be possible. But I doubt it'll work that good since 1.5 and 2.7 are completely different. However, if you find the file that's been changed in flash to allow bigger memsticks it should be possible. |

Points: 16.97 Donate | | | When 2.7 was released some people from ps2dev dumped the firmware found the new drivers and gave the names and what they are used for (to show the new features) so I will look for the name of the file/s and see which one it was. |
