| | | | My sincerest apologies to all of you. I was not able to do this, it is impossible, well at least from what I have tried.
What most of you probably think, which was what I thought also, is that all one would have to do is backup a 1.0 firmware from the NAND or JTAG, then flash and program it to a 2.6 PSP. In theory this would work, but here's the problem. Sony has even safe-proofed that. There is a bootstrap-like chip that when you update your PSP, it updates that chip as well, which tells the PSP what firmware to expect to load from the NAND. If the NAND is altered w/o this chip, guess what, it's a no-go...
Boundary scanning would work if you knew where to start and where to end and if Sony had released their flashing software, but since we do not have any information about the boundaries, JTAG is impossible.
Sorry again, guys, please don't be upset with me, I honestly tried, and it wasn’t enough, so I am now moving on and learning more about software programming for the PSP and Xbox. |

| | | | Ours? If so, the no, our idea was to jack into the diagnostic bus, much like how Xbox modchips work. |

I think that the entire PSP community is grateful for the work you dedicated on that project!
From what you said above I still see the possibility to unbrick a PSP using its own firmware dump... Is that possible?
If the answer is yes an altered version of its own firmware can be put back to open a backdoor to start eboots without sign checking (like in firmware 1.00)... That could lead to many bricks but since there is the possibility of unbricking... I don't think that the PSP hardware have the time to check the entire firmware on startup... maybe it's only a version checking or checks only some files (otherwise 2.00 downgrader couldn't work either, since the firmware is altered by changing its version number)...
...that's only speculation...

| | | | hi, just a question, since this checker has to change on every upgrade, can't it be flashed as well along with the nand to match? |

I heard that if a voltage was sent to one of the legs on the nand chip (I was told this is what allows sonys code to run. So if a mod-chip was created that passed a voltage through this leg on the nand chip then it would not matter what firmware you have you could still run homebrew from the menu. Imagine 2.7 with the capabilities of 1.0 that would be very nice. But if a mod-chip was made it would have to be very thin (making it delicate and easy to snap). |

in new ver PSP (FW 2.50/2.60 from factory)
it use new "protection"
maybe w/ new bootloader ?
so it can not use old ver FW
if you paste old ver FW in it
it will not boot
new ver PSP (FW 2.50/2.60 from factory)
it just can Upgrade
and can not Downgrade !!

So we can forget about 2.5 and 2.6 downgraders if PSP was originally with them.
