There is but it is a hardware downgrader and not everyone can build that and it is risky. And the reason a software downgrader hasn't been released is because there hasn't been a way found to execute the neccasary code.
| I would be quite intrested in that method... It's only for speculation as I'm a computer engineer and really intrested in this kind of stuff (actually I used my psp only for about a week, but I like a lot all this hacking stuff). Please answer only if you know something or if it's a confirmed fake. |

A while back I remember visiting a web page which claimed to be working on
hardware downgrader. Can't remember the adress though.
Anyway, they would downgrade(or even unbrick) your PSP by taking it apart and "reflashing" the flash chip which contained the firmware. I'm not sure how successful they were and personally I think taking my PSP apart would be too big of a risk but it did seem like a really interesting idea. |

It's also intresting the link that they give on the homepage... I love that pictures, reminds me of many of my pc "homemade" peripheals |

however, if sony altered the BIOS to only be compatible with thier encrypted files on newer models, then they could prevent it.
this could also be done via a firmware update, to influence the bios, then downgrading from that fw would be impossible. |
